Tahoe Day 4 June 21

Not much blogging going on, but a lot of photography and sightseeing. Wednesday we stayed around South Tahoe, then Thursday we drove all the way around the lake, Seventy odd miles, spectacular scenery.

Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed places in the country. I burned a few pixels there myself. Truly dramatic scenery.

The above a little more dramatic with the use of a fish-eye lens.

More photographs can be seen here.

Never having done any bird watching in the west, I have already seen 7 life birds(life bird being the first time a particular bird is identified.)

Steller’s Jay
Brewers Blackbird
Black-billed Magpie
Black-headed Grosbeak
Forster’s Tern
Williamson’s Sapsucker (male)
White-headed Woodpecker (female)

The drive around the lake was interesting. Tahoe City is a neat little town on the northwest side of the lake. We spent about an hour there, walked through a farmer’s market, and bought a game for our hostess in S. Lake Tahoe. We of course stopped several times for photography. all in all a great drive. Enjoy the photos.
